All of the above subjects have touched my life through personal experience.  I have also studied these subjects extensively.

I present all subjects with intense energy, holding back no emotion or detail.  The details I give on topics 1 through 12 are very graphic and often evoke emotion in the audience.  When I discuss alternatives to established methods of therapy it usually raises profound questions and answers not conventionally sought.

The missing element in many of professional presentations on abuse is the aspect of personal experience.  The power of personal example can be instrumental in providing hope to a recovering person or their families and to the individuals working with them.  It can also inspire a person to start on the road to recovery.  Hope allows people to move away from the feelings of being trapped and then to become inspired to take action to resolve.  It can help everyone concerned.  My views do not follow any organized religion nor do I wish to debate religion.

My presentation ranges from one to three hours in length with a subsequent question period.  If requested, I can adjust my presentation to the client’s time restraints, although due to the vast amount of material covered a longer time is preferred. I look forward to being of service to you.

Major Projects I have been Involved with

Most recently: A documentary film called, “The Jim Mandelin Story, Anatomy of a Gang Member” is being filmed on my life story. Also in progress is a movie script being written by two local writers based on my autobiography. The autobiography is also being edited and prepared for publishing at this time.
    1. Television documentary “Beyond Medicine” produced in 1999 by Partners in Motion. The documentary features myself and others discussing the use of alternative medicine rather than traditional medicine.
    2. Television documentary Sexual Abuse, Both Sides of the Coin (1991).  This documentary featured me as a survivor of childhood abuse and Graham Cook as a recovering pedophile.  The Knowledge Network, National Film Board and the Province of British Columbia provided funding. It was produced by Images for Thought Productions.  The film was selected as a runner-up at the 1992 New York International Film and Television Festival Awards.  Capilano and Malspina College and over one hundred educational institutions across Canada and the United States retain this film as part of their video library.

    7. I have counseled many clients starting in 1989 and have been able to assist most to see that their life can be a life beyond victimhood and mere survival and to change their situations for the better.
    8. I have been a  parent to four sons (now grown) and one daughter over many years and this has given me a practical based education on the process of parenting.
    9. When one is given a second chance at life, one must not squander the knowledge and wisdom gained from all the misgivings experienced in the initial attempt at life.
